I have had both the privilege and the pleasure of working within the funeral industry for the last 10 years. I started my career at Elliott's Funeral Services in Tauranga, as part of their Office Administration Team before moving into the mortuary as an Embalmers Assistant. In due course I moved into a full time embalming position where over the next 8 years I became a qualified embalmer and was promoted to the position of Mortuary Manager in 2010. Responsibilities extended beyond the mortuary to Funeral Directors Assistant, purchasing supplies, performing transfers, trimming caskets, organising hearses and daily office operations. In early 2011, I was selected to be a member of the Funeral Disaster Response Team that responded to the needs of Christchurch. During this time I got to work alongside some the best embalmers in the country under a unique situation. I am passionate about embalming, committed to continual learning both practically and theoretically. The New Zealand Embalmers Association is renowned for its high standards, of which I have been an active advocate during my embalming career. As an Executive Member of the New Zealand Embalmers Association, I want to create further value for members to be involved, and perhaps reconnect with the association. I look forward to continuing to supporting our dedicated embalmers and the fantastic work they do.
