WHEN AND HOW DID YOU JOIN THE FUNERAL INDUSTRY:
I was 15 and at school at the time, after school I had a part time job filling shelves at the local New World supermarket close to the high school I was attending. I approached my careers advisor at school asking her to organise a weeks work experience with a funeral home following a morbid curiosity. That was in 1995, in 1996 my curiosity was growing so I went back to the careers advisor and asked for another weeks work experience, this time with a busier firm. I was sent to John Rhind Funeral Directors in Christchurch, a funeral home where I would spend close to the next 15 years working, until a move to Wellington in 2009 where I currently manage E Morris Jnr Simplicity Funerals.
